Florence Welsh brought her breakout single “Dog Days Are Over” and her cover of The Source’s “You’ve Got The Love” to Saturday Night Live this weekend. The microphone in her hands could have been a prop — her voice is huge. “Dog Days Are Over” is the second single from Lungs, but it didn’t get a ton of Stateside attention until Welch sang it at the MTV VMAs. Wow, her voice is so amazing. I love that nothing is lost in her live performance.
I thought her SNL performances were kind of weak. Maybe I’m just sick of seeing her perform ‘Dog Days’.
Yeah, her voice sounded good but really flat to me. I like the stage setup though, very cool!
I really love Florence Welch’s artistry and was amped up to see her on SNL. The stage set up on Dog Days are Over was killer. I love how the background dancers had make up on to mute them and make them look like they were shot in black and white. Unfortunately, Florence’s vocal performance was not good. She continually hit flat notes throughout the song. I actually could not believe it. It would seem to me that someone in her camp would of had her back and had her perform again, (and again), until the performance was solid. Maybe she could not hear the monitor mix (?) Maybe she is surrounded by sycophants instead of friends… I just don’t know.
