There was a noteworthy amount of discussion around “Rope,” the first single from the forthcoming Wasting Light, especially given (or maybe because of) how textbook Foo that self-doubting post-grunge radio rock hook felt. Here’s that song’s video, featuring Pat Smear because the album does as well, with the black-clad band inside a Battles “Atlas”-reminiscent cube, with opaque white illuminated slates where the transparent plates and mirrors would be. It’s a slightly refined take on a standard rock video trope, which is to say it is a very Foo Fighters production. It follows that Dave Grohl directed.
Wasting Light is out 4/12, the song “Dear Rosemary” with Bob Mould is one I’m curious to hear. We’ll get you a listen when it’s ready.

Ugh, terrible music. Maybe I’m in the minority, but I find nothing enticing on this song. It’s just some random cookie-cutter rock song, it “takes” me nowhere, it feels sterile. There are some good songs in the “adult alternative rock” genre, but this ain’t one of them.
I dig it aside from the weakness during the chorus, I think they should’ve stuck with the energy present throughout the rest of the song.. The chorus was a let down, the rest wasn’t bad, IMO.
“White Limo” was a lot better. It rocks out a little at the end, but it’s still pretty bland. Hopefully the album will be much better.
Dear Rosemary video for you, Amrit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOUQztQMYTE
I think it’s a pretty cool song.
Pretty vicious riffs. Sunny Day + Grohl combo keeps churning out swell content.
Again, haven’t even remotely cared about a FF song in quite some time now, but I think this is a pretty decent song.
For a sec I thought they redid Detachable Penis. These guys always fuck up the chorus. Above average mainstream rock guaranteed to keep them popular with the unwashed masses.
You say that like it’s something to be ashamed of. And let’s be honest, the masses wash more than we do.
