Modest Mouse experts were mixed on “Satellite Skin” and its B-Side rousing “Guilty Cocker Spaniels,” but no worries, the elder Washington statesmen keep on trucking. That said, it’ll be interesting to see what folks make of this gentler, Ugly Casanova-esque No One’s First And You’re Next track “Autumn Beds” and its sweet, simple country twang. Before the end of the month, the sing-along will show up on a limited-edition 7″ backed with “Whale Song” as the second of four proposed No One’s singles. For now, though, it’s here by its hummable lonesome. Note: We likely won’t be sleeping in our Autumn beds, Isaac, because it’s June.
The “Autumn Beds” 7″ is out officially 6/23 in an edition of 4,000. You can pre-order it here. No One’s First and You’re Next is out in August via Epic.

Sounds a little like Ugly Casanova.
Half the band now lives in Portland…
Oh and the song is nice, but I still miss the anger of the olds.
they’ve lost it
Love it.
This isn’t bad.. but very…. B-sidey. Which makes sense. This whole EP is just old B-sides.
I heard “Whale Song” is great though, so we’ll see.
i liked it
good tune
I like it. I’m glad they’re getting away from the whole nautical sounding shtick.
Is Johnny Marr still supposed to be with them? Because if not.. then that would explain a whole lot.
this is garbage. guess we can’t expect another masterpiece like Lonesome Crowded West ever.
By Modest Mouse standards this is kinda week, but by musical standards in general, this is quite nice. Oh and to say they lost is is poor foolishness, saw them live a few months ago and it was the most powerful musical experience i have had.
And yes, Lonesome Crowded West is a masterpiece.
Note: our planet has other hemispheres.

The pretty banjo and Brock’s lyrics elevate this to something more than simply an indifferent B-side. MM is a band that has a tough time making throwaway tracks and Autumn Beds sure as shit ain’t no throwaway track like some of you elitist, ungrateful, apathetic bitches want to make it out to be. Come late August, it may be of more relevance to you.
Ugh. Autumn Beds was a dissappointment. However, the whale song was a HUGE redeemer. With the raging 3 minute guitar solos signature to MM, it easily cleared up all of my worries about them.
PS, I got to see them live in Atlanta and they were AMAZING.
<3 MM forever.
