With tribal tunes built upon yelps, nature sounds, and clattering rhythms, Chicago’s psych quartet YAWN have garnered almost unanimous comparisons to Animal Collective and Yeasayer. Their debut LP Open Season, out later this summer, is certainly one to keep an ear out for, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see them play live with Mates Of State in the fall. Listened through to the new track and the EP, really liked it. I’ll definitely check out whatever you’re planning in NYC!
They’re also playing August 30th at Schuba’s in Chicago. It’s their record release party. Saw them open for Tame Impala with Yuck, and thought they were better than Yuck.
