Prurient - Bermuda Drain

When posting Bermuda Drain‘s “A Meal Can Be Made” I spoke about how the nine songs on Prurient’s new game-shifting album “construct an even darker, deeper, violent, emotionally charged edifice to love, lust, and wanting to rip someone apart” than his past material. (It’s one of the most romantic albums you’ll hear all year.) Take a listen:

Bermuda Drain is out officially (CD/LP/digital) today (7/19) via Hydra Head. Fernow recently did a Bermuda Drain-related mix for FACT Magazine.

  1. *cocks eyebrow*

I’m rather enjoying this. Am I wrong for thinking of Sunn O)))’s “Black One” while listening to this? He isn’t screaming in a coffin on “Palm Tree Corpses” is he?

Exceptional music here, I can see why it was on ya’lls Top 20 of 2011 so far.

  2. I’ve listened to this three time now, and it’s really growing on more. Quite different from where he’s been with Prurient previously and sure to divide his followers, but that’s a sign of interesting music, no?
