There isn’t much official information on Carousels, though that’s not for some self-consciously stylish anonymity or internet mystery. They just haven’t generated much official information yet. There are three tracks to know, some UK blog posts, and a video for a song called “Carousel,” and when reached for comment the band offered that they just recently put those demos on Soundcloud and are a duo “from Cambridge (based in Guildford) consisting of Nick Benton and Lucy Wilson” with their debut gig scheduled for “Binnacle festival at the Old Blue Last in October.” Of their small batch of tracks, “Here To Me” will be a quick favorite, tugging a line from the shoegaze-on-breakbeat dance track mold MBV cast with “Soon,” though brighter and female-fronted in the vein of School Of Seven Bells. Grab that, and download/watch “Carousel” all below:

Hey, this is pretty good. It’s got a guitar that simultaneously sounds like a guitar without sounding like a guitar, it actually has the beautiful/violent dynamic that ought to be the aim of every shoegaze band, and they didn’t forget that melodies are as important as all that other stuff.
Why is it so difficult to download mp3s off this site?? I keep getting “too many redirects”.
This is really great stuff. I want more…
