Das Racist - "Michael Jackson"

After giving away their two great, name-making mixtapes for free, Das Racist try an even more novel approach for this forthcoming, proper debut LP Relax: they want you to BUY it. It’s an innovative mission in music monetization begins straight out of the gates with the relatively hyped lead single “Michael Jackson,” a track their Pitchfork Festival appearance “certif[ied] … an immediate sing-along banger.” It’s produced by Patrick Wimberly (Chairlift) and DR — quick skittering beat, hard and rasped raps — and you can get to know its “Michael Jackson /// a million dollars” hook by parting with one of them at iTunes. That’s its twin towered cover art above. UPDATE: You can stream it here, too:

  1. Where is the stream of the song, Stereogum? Can you fix it? Love to hear the song.

  2. …just…no.

  3. These are similar lyrics (at least the chorus) to what they rapped in one of Pitchfork’s web series that mashes up rappers and unusual beats. I think it was cooler with “Wut” by Girl Unit as the beat. This is nice though. Can’t wait for the debut

  4. The chorus is a line used in a couple other songs, usually by viktor. I don’t like heems part in this bc he sounds like jeezy. He’s probably just making fun of jeezy, but dat don’t make it good.

  5. I like how the sample sounds like its been sped up on a casio sk-5
