You’ve heard a bunch of songs from Era Extraña — “Polish Girl,” “Arcade Blues,” “Hex Girlfriend“, maybe even more — and according to the frenzy in the comment section, you probably entered to win one of Alan Palomo’s synths. Now NPR is offering a stream of the record. We’re listening. What do you think?
Era Extraña is out 9/13 on Palomo’s own Static Tongues, via Mom + Pop.

Kinda makes us dizzy, in perhaps a decent way…

when Alan Palomo talked to my friend back at Homegrown Festival, my friend asked him what the new album sounded like. Alan simply replied “Post-punk, all the way man. No one will be expecting it.”
I think the album sounds really cool from first listen!
love the album, especially “fall out”, “suns interrupt”, “hex girlfriend”, “future sick” and “heart: release”. much better than the first album.
suns interrupt suns interrupt suns interrupt ahaaaaaa suns interrupt suns interrupt suns interrupt i wake up i wake up i wake up ahaaaaaa i wake up i wake up i wake up…
it feels like Alan wasn’t afraid to be himself on this album. Psychic Chasms is amazing, but at times feels forcibly chill wave. Era is a beautiful mess. It is “post punk all the way” in the sense that most glam/post punk albums from the late 70s early 80s were a total mess and all over the place, but 100% memorable and influential. Alan used a beautiful formula and got a great album out of it. I’m excited to get my PAL 198X.
Love it, really happy Alan went in this direction. Less glitch, more melody, expanding on all my favourite parts of the first album and leaving out the rest. It’s so bright and sweet, almost purely cute. Obviously I’m well into that. Because I’m such a nice guy.
All that swirly, nostalgic goodness thrown in a blender of nice, dark pop. This album just defined the word stellar.
This thing SYNTHLY rocks! PPPFFFFFTTCCHHHGGHHGGHTT.
But seriously though. It’s really good.
This is great. The first one had some great pop tunes on it, but this has more to offer in every way. Better hooks, trippier electronics, better production, etc.
the drums and especially the synth on suns irrupt get me in a dancy mood. love the old school samples in arcade blues.. reminds me of street fighter or another 2D video game. brings me back and ive never felt so happy to return to my past
This CD is going to be my new favorite during post-blunt situations. Palamo must be on acid 24/7…
I am really into this album. I think Alan Palamo made some pretty genius moves and pushed this album in the perfect direction. It’s such easy music to listen to and is definitely pleasing to the ear. Hope everyone enjoys!
