After three years of hiatus-era silence, NYC aughts-stalwarts the Big Sleep return with their third full-length Nature Experiments, due early next year on Frenchkiss. The project’s lineup has condensed and coalesced around principal pair Sonya Balchandani and Danny Barria, who return on vocals/bass and guitars, respectively, with some GarageBand and other fill-ins for where the drums once lived. “Ace” is #1 from the LP, and it’s a honed take on their effects-laden riff/shoegaze pop sound; think Metric propelled by Secret Machines, think NYC aughts, download below:
Nature Experiments is out 1/31 via Frenchkiss.

Man, I miss NYC during the aughts…
I’m so excited for this album! This track is such a good jam.
kill killer killer cant wait
Heart times ten. Impatiently awaiting both album and tour.
That’s a mash up of static and noise and I’m using M-Audio stereophile speakers. No offense but that “music” sounds like trains crashing in a subway station and the singer a COPD patient wheezing into a ventilator . I wouldn’t buy it, but could listen to it outside where it wont make my ears run away from my head and never return! I never heard off this band before , but I like to be honest about my reviews because there isnt much of that in indie these days . There’s so many bands that arent that good, and the media pushes on our ears what we don’t even like , but are supposed to like. Even if they blew soft farts into the microphone and called it singing.. ..like this sound of a garbage compacter screeching in the background for extra effect…how bout some more cowbells ,anyone??

That’s not a review that’s you trying too hard.
*gently farts into luv lollipops’ ears*
Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album, Big Sleep! Amazing <3
Edgy; Dark; Cloudy. It’s confident. Want to hear the new album. Looking forward.
Luv lollipops your review sounds like a 2005 Amazon era “A Kids Review” take on things. Well done if thats the aesthetic your going for. But, the song is legit.
New album is the best news to come out today besides ZoZo becoming avail again! Exited the blogosphere is getting some Big Sleep again.
The next album should be : ” Why that man leaves wet spots on my bed before he runs off in the morning”
