My Morning Jacket Cameo On 'Vampire Diaries,' Which Is A TV Show

My Morning Jacket showed up on an episode of The Vampire Diaries recently, which is apparently a TV show that airs on the CW. In the episode, they played three songs from their newest LP, Circuital; ”Holdin’ On To Black Metal”, “First Light”, and “You Wanna Freak Out.” Three songs? That seems kind of heavy. The Flaming Lips only got one song in their famous 90210 drop-in, but they made it count. Scope a clip of the band doing “First Light” down below, in between what I can only assume is some seriously dramatic, vampire-related dialogue.

Are vampires still a thing? I thought it was zombies now? Should I buy low on Frankensteins?

  1. Please tell me this isn’t true.

  2. ehhheayeah wut in the heck!? regardless of the explanation, gotta support jim james and MMJ.

  3. Still probably better than ‘Elizabethtown’

  4. Weird, but then again so is Jim James. Still, I’d have watched for that just because I love the band.

And zombies were before vampires. Come on now, Stereogum. Frankensteins might be a solid move, though.

  5. I mean they are my favorite band and I support just about everything they do but Vampire Diaries? Gotta be better T.V.-related offers on the table than this. Oh well. Hard to argue with making easy money. If I were they, I’d probably do the same. Maybe Yim Yames is a vampire himself.
