Omaha indie warriors Cursive are set to return next month with I Am Gemini, their seventh album. It’s a concept album that tells the story of the mythical twin brothers that gave the astrological sign its name — not exactly the first thing we expected from a band better-known for singing about the bitter minutia of breakups than taking on sweeping prog concepts. But then again, they did tour with Mastodon that one time. Below, grab the chugging album track “The Sun And Moon.”

I Am Gemini is out 2/21 on Saddle Creek.

Ugh. Goodbye Cursive, We hardly knew ye.
I’m trying to remove the “Cursive” from this equation and determine if I would like the song anyway. Leaning towards the negative on that…
I like it
This song, I admit isn’t anything to write home about. The Cat and Mouse came with a pre-order though and if anything it encouraged me that there are glimmers of hope for their album as a whole.
Regardless, they are still fun as hell live, which I frankly care about more than their releases.
This song sucks. I’ve given up on what use to be an amazing band at this point. Why is it as bands “get older” they lose sight of what made them good? Cursive and The fall of Troy are prime examples.
