At about 49 minutes on the embed below, the xx’s sonic architect, Jamie, shares the latest iteration of his by now practically patented steel-drummed/florid-house dance music. There’s a disassociated vocal sample offering instruction in rhythm, there’s the reverberating sounds of an island getaway and tropical cocktails, and there’s the underbelly of a mid-tempo beat for reasonably paced shagging. Hear it, along with a mix from bandmate Romy, and other Young Turks treats, in this radio show for Australian Radio 94.5 FBi, below. It is also downloadable, if you’d like to do that and trim your favorite bits:

Do it Jamie
He really loves those steel drums. Not complaining though.
speaking of steel drums, weren’t Deerhunter, Gang Gang Dance, The Knife, TVOTR, Grizzly Bear et al. supposed to be composing steel drum music for charity earlier this year? I wonder if that music will ever be released.
