Barring an insane influx of untouchable rock records in the second half of 2012, NYC indie rockers the Men’s Open Your Heart is sure to hold up as one of the year’s biggest critical smashes. Previously, we heard title track “Open Your Heart,” and today the raucous closing track “Ex-Dreams” is making the rounds. Hear it below.
Open Your Heart is out 3/6 on Sacred Bones.

Loving it. “Ex-(day)Dreams” Nation.
I’ve been listening to Tennis and Perfume Genius all this week, so it’s pleasing to get some good, old-fashioned, breaking things punk up in your face after all that sensitive happy whatnot.
I agree that the Men are refreshing, but if you think that Perfume Genius album is “happy” you may not have listened to it.
Nah it’s just lighter in instrumentation and stuff like that. Definitely sad and heavy lyrics wise. Very very good though.
Anyone else getting a Sonic Youth-y vibe (particularly from the vocals)? I mean that in the best way possible.
Yes indeed! See my above comment. Very Daydream Nation-era, with the building leading into the vocals à la “Teenage Riot.” It’s done excellently.
This is my early hope for AOTY. As more and more songs are starting to drop, it’s becoming clear that this will probably surpass my earliest expectations.
incredibly overrated band. at least this song isn’t a blatant buzzcocks ripoff
Sorry folks but kind of agree.
