Recently, DigiTech rolled out a new stompbox called the iStomp, which lets you select digital stompboxes and effects rigs via your iPhone and use them in concert with a physical stompbox, with the option to buy more digital pedals and effects via their iStomp Shop app. And we’re giving one away! To enter, you need be a fan of Stereogum on Facebook and comment with your favorite pedal effect (or favorite effects-heavy song? COMMENT!) via Facebook Connect (do not use your ‘Gum user account on this post — we’ll have to be able to check if you are a fan of Stereogum on FB when the sweepstakes ends). The sweepstakes ends 3/21 at 6 PM EST. Please check your “Other Messages” box in a couple weeks if you enter. Good luck!

  28. Favorite effect-laden song: “Te Amo” by Atlas Sound

    Here’s what I’m talkin bout… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQrEL5A8D8M

Although perhaps this is a bit ill-timed considering recent events in Minneapolis…

  29. where do I start? awesome! delay distortion its all good!

  30. doubling up on delay with some modulation (phaser?) makes the whole thing sound totally oceanic and insane. “Alison” by Slowdive is a really good implementation of the two-delay sound.

  31. strymon makes this awesome pedal that digitally models tape delay. el capistan. they sound great!

  32. delay-ay-ay-ay
    or pitch shift maybe

  33. Line 6 DL4. Best effects-heavy song is probably “Drilling” by Minus the Bear, most of the song is a series of DL4 loops sped up and played backwards.

  34. blues driver. duh.

  43. Analog delay, without a doubt.

  44. Digital Delay

  45. Octave effect. That way you don’t have to look for a bassist.

  46. It’s got to be delay or echo chamber.

  47. New Rules by Eleventh Dream Day; no spectacular effects, just a pitch-perfect use of overdrive.

  48. My Boss Blues Driver. Use it on every song.

  49. i like me some cathedral style reverb

  50. this one’s a three way toss up between the crybaby, the small stone phaser, and the rotovibe

  51. Fulltone Full-Drive 2

  52. Let’s think about this… DigiTech DigiDelay.

  53. Electro Harmonix Big Muff

  54. Bass flanger…the only effect pedal I ever used. (I am a bass player)

  58. love the whammy pedal on You Lost Me by Sleigh Bells.

  59. My favourite ever pedal is the ProCo Rat… It’s epic! And effect-heavy song, gotta be Bugman by Blur. Gnarly.

  60. EHX Stereo Memory Man

  61. Boss OC-3 Super Octave. Very underutilized effect.

  62. Dave Longstreth on the intro to Cannibal Resource with crazy delay, trem and wah (is my best guess).

  63. Anything off of Loveless

  64. NEEDS MOAR PHASE

  65. EHX Micro Synth

  77. Dude, Delay and Flanger will never die. That two is my favorite.
