This is sort of related, but I’ve been listening to The Monitor a lot lately and I do seriously believe it is in my top 10 great American rock albums. The lyrics, the emotion, the song structure…so great.
I second that!
Count me in, I love it , still play it at least once a week after all this time
I saw them a couple of nights later in Richmond, and I can confirm that these new joints, while still in pretty scrappy early form, sound pretty great in person. Stickles said they’d record a new album next month and mentioned eight months from now as a ballpark release date.
So I guess “Upon Viewing Oregon’s Landscape With The Flood Of Detritus” is a standalone ?
I’m thinking it probably is. But the possibility of a theme record about westward expansion after a civil war one is too good to pass up. And I saw the new songs in Richmond as well and at least musically they are really good
