Orphan – “Tarantula Downforce”

Orphan – Decapitated Lovers

|Orphan - Decapitated Lovers

Sludgy Brooklyn bass-and-drum noise rock duo Orphan's Decapitated Lovers ends with its longest song, the 8-minute "Tarantula Downforce," a hazy, heavy track that sounds like Mudhoney doing Dead Meadow's psychedelic space rock. The album also includes a cover of Born Against's "Well Fed Fuck." These angles should give you a sense of what to expect from Brendan Majewski and Speck Brown's project. To go further, though, feel free referencing godheadSilo and Eyehategod. Or imagine an East Coast version of Karp -- with Darkthrone in their MySpace Top 8 -- doing a cover of something off Unwound's Fake Train. Or just listen:
Orphan - "Tarantula Downforce"

Decapitated Lovers is out via From The Nursery. Norwegian artist Gardar Eide Einarsson did the cover art. Using pubic hair. They've also just released a split 12" with Dope Body called "Self-Entitled." It's out via Black Tent Press and it includes a cover of Undwound's "Dragnalus" (see, I wasn't just talking out my ass). But before moving onto that, dig deeper into Decapitated Lovers via these videos for album tracks "Fetus In Fetu" and "Soda Pressing."
