Or vice versa. You guys often accuse the synth-pop crew for not smiling enough, but the Philly/NYC BTW provide the chirpy soundtrack for this joyful new Holiday Season Radio Shack ad. (Thanks for the tip, Zach.) The Caralee-fronted “Life Magazine” does the honors. Too bad they couldn’t talk the company into giving it a go with “Sex Ads.” It may very well be the most color you ever see connected to the band, so don’t blink.
Here’s the song sans holiday cheer:
Love Comes Close is out via Matador.

Sellouts!
I love how this good band never gets comments on any of their posts, but the second when a commercial is involved they call them sellouts.
Wesley Eisold deserves it, dude has been in some great undeserved bands.
he is still a massive loser and sell out
This is really well done. Sometimes these indie commercial crossovers are terrible but this works as well as that Royksopp/Geico crossover did a few years ago.
I guess you take what you can get but this is kind of like getting money from your grandma to take your date out and then finding out you have to take your grandma on the date too. Any positive thing that you thought you’d get from that money is ruined because you’re out on a date with your grandma. Or radio shack, whichever the case may be.
PS. I like the record though.
That definitely came out of left field, great song though. Love Comes Close is easily a contender for my favorite album of the year.
Going the Passion Pit way, are we?
This record is one of the catchiest of the year. It’s great and there is no denying that. Also, any hipster who trys to wax poetic about a band/group/artist selling out doesn’t realize ALL these bads/groups/artists want MONEY and FAME and ACCOLADES, and they really don’t give a fuck how they get them- shut the fuck up and be happy someone can make a living as an artist, isn’t that part of what being an artist is all about?
I don’t think it’s selling out at all. It’s primarily a way for somewhat small bands to get launched, and get a little money out of it.
asshole
you are a dumb shit
Mostly unrelated to this post, but I just saw a Budweiser commercial last night featuring M. Ward’s “Never Had Nobody Like You”. Yet another beer commercial featuring aggressive, obnoxious alpha males holding court with waifish, passive women. It made sense that they cut out the M. Ward/Zooey Deschanel chorus–heaven forbid a talented woman have a voice in a commercial for beer.
That’s a pretty dense, rich piece of music schilling for a beer that’s essentially water. I liked hearing M. Ward’s music on the “Go-Getter” soundtrack. At least they drank Rogue Dead Guy Ale in that movie.
fuck this band
are they artist are shills for sweat shop electronics
the music they make is used to make children in asia suffer so cheap white people can get budget electronics
i used to like them and now i wish they would fucking choke on their blood drenched money
fuck you wes fuck you caralee fuck you dominic
But if they split up…you’re responsible.
wow this is dead on.
quit music or start over. you really blew it cold play
