New Beck Video - "Gamma Ray"

We've been pretty upfront about liking Beck's Modern Guilt. One of our favorite tracks is the darkly upbeat "Gamma Ray," which pairs a ghostly background vocal echo with a sort of thwapping groove. The surrealistic video for the song --...  CONTINUE READING NEW BECK VIDEO - "GAMMA RAY"»

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt

It's been some time since we learned Modern Guilt, Beck Hansen's eighth album, would be some sort of psych rock minimalist '60s trip with Danger Mouse. Since then, we've gotten a look at the old-school jazz/Blue Note-style cover art and...  CONTINUE READING PREMATURE EVALUATION: BECK - MODERN GUILT»

Beck's Modern Guilt Album Art & Tracklist

Beck's been garnering a number of Caribou references for Modern Guilt's "Chemtrails." Then, just a couple of days ago, he performed the lilting, '60s-evoking title track at L.A.'s Echo. Now the Danger Moused Modern Guilt finally has an official release...  CONTINUE READING BECK'S MODERN GUILT ALBUM ART & TRACKLIST»

New Beck - "Modern Guilt" (Live @ The Echo)

Last night Beck did in L.A. what he loves to do in L.A., hitting the Echo (or, Echoplex) for a "secret show" and work through some rarities -- in this case, stuff from the out-any-day-now Modern Guilt. According to LA...  CONTINUE READING NEW BECK - "MODERN GUILT" (LIVE @ THE ECHO)»

Beck & Danger Mouse Create Modern Guilt, Bring Cat Power Along

Rare Beck Error Card MINT

From the PR folks working that terrific Odelay reissue we never got a chance to mention:

The first pressing of the recent Odelay Deluxe Reissue was found to have gone out with unproofed lyrics that were taken from a lyrics website as place holders for layout purposes. Beck apologizes for this unfortunate oversight and is making arrangements for the corrected lyrics to be available gratis via Beck.com. Subsequent pressings of the Odelay Deluxe will also include the corrected lyrics.
Internets are so unreliable. We've been singing the wrong words to "New Pollution" for a dozen years, though ... Why stop now?

Beck @ Angel Orensanz Center, NYC 10/22/06

A puppet-less Mr. Hansen and band treated the Lower East Side's best cathedral-inspired-synagogue concert hall to twenty-four songs last night, over an hour-and-a-half full of humor, a little broken-hearted folk, and some light-hearted fun. Beck was quick to announce that...  CONTINUE READING BECK @ ANGEL ORENSANZ CENTER, NYC 10/22/06»
