Peter Gabriel Drops Out Of The Oscars

The self-proclaimed "old fart" had agreed to perform his award-nominated Wall-E song "Down To Earth" until he was told he'd have to cut it to one-minute and fit into an Oscar-song medley. Songwriters "work bloody hard and deserve (a bigger...  CONTINUE READING PETER GABRIEL DROPS OUT OF THE OSCARS»

Only Slumdog, WALL-E Nominated For Best Song Oscar

Fan favorite Slumdog Millionaire has 2/3 of the song nominations, Peter Gabriel's WALL-E tune the other third. M.I.A. doesn't get a direct nod, outside of releasing the soundtrack on her imprint. And Golden Globe winner the Boss must be pissed....  CONTINUE READING ONLY SLUMDOG, WALL-E NOMINATED FOR BEST SONG OSCAR»

New Peter Gabriel - "Down To Earth," Plans To Cover Vampire Weekend

Gabriel co-wrote "Down To Earth" with Thomas Newman. It's from Wall-E, the greatest robot movie ever made (98% at Rotten Tomatoes). Supposedly the song plays during the credits -- it's 6-minutes long, so that makes sense. You can purchase "Down...  CONTINUE READING NEW PETER GABRIEL - "DOWN TO EARTH," PLANS TO COVER VAMPIRE WEEKEND»

Peter Gabriel Brings Your Blue Sky Back

Someone had a busy holiday season. PG played Johannesburg on World Aids Day, sold reproductions of his studio shed via Solid State Logic, accepted a BMI Icon award, hosted a dinner with Maggie Gyllenhaal for human rights group Witness, and handed over Real World distribution to Ryko. Now his 15-years-in-the-making Big Blue Ball project is seeing the light of iTunes. First single "Whole Thing," featuring Waterboy/World Partier Karl Wallinger, beats "Barry Williams." There's also a metal cover of "Red Rain" making us blue. Feels so unnatural, Queensryche.
