New ThunderAnt: Fred Armisen And Carrie Brownstein Enter The Kitchen

At this point, Thunderant doesn't need an introduction, but taking short attention spans into consideration, it's the comedy duo of Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein. Last time we saw them, they tried (and succeeded in) penning "The Perfect Song." This...  CONTINUE READING NEW THUNDERANT: FRED ARMISEN AND CARRIE BROWNSTEIN ENTER THE KITCHEN»

Blitzen Trapper Meet Carrie Brownstein, Play The Stereogum Party

Of all the bands at our SXSW party, Blitzen Trapper seemed most likely to collapse the Volume stage. Yes, more so than HEALTH -- there are more people, you see. The six Portlanders crowded onto the riser and proceeded to...  CONTINUE READING BLITZEN TRAPPER MEET CARRIE BROWNSTEIN, PLAY THE STEREOGUM PARTY»

Carrie Brownstein Angling For A Job At Maxim

After citing Maxim's no-listen review of the new Black Crowes LP, blogger-Kinney launches into a couple of her own. Carrie goes deep on Kaki King's Dreaming Of Revenge: "'Life Being What It Is' is King at his best, while 'Open Mouth' is King even better than he usually is. 'Air and Kilometers' is a beautiful song about traveling in a plane in a country that uses the metric system and 'Montreal' is about a city in Canada." Also she notes that Wye Oak's If Children is "Whitney Houston's 'The Greatest Love Of All' except angrier and totally against mid-wives."

We'd hire her! But both Maxim and Carrie need to remember that when it comes to phony reviews David Cross is not afraid of you and will beat your ass.

Carrie Brownstein Interviews Todd Barry

Thunderant Carrie Brownstein's entertaining interview with comedian Todd Barry is up now at her NPR blog. We learn a lot about both of them but, most importantly, that she once wore a "Smashmouth Rules" tee to a wedding. This, in part, is why we love her. As far as Barry, he gets in some funny lines (that is his job, after all), but perhaps nothing as hilarious as this video which he supplies as an answer when asked, "What is the weirdest fan letter/email you have ever received." How about you, Carrie? (via)
