New Andrew Bird (Feat. Dianogah) Video – “Lull”

"Lull" first appeared on Bird's 2003 release Weather Systems, but a more recent visit to Daytrotter saw the track get reworked with band aid from Chicago-based outfit Dianogah. It's lovely in both forms, but it's the latter version that gets set to spellbinding, seafaring animation by Lisa Barcy in this new video. It's a song about loneliness and the Atlantic, and the clip's narrative follows that to an extent. Until we start exploring the complex relationship between our human protagonist and a thoughtful, teasing, and phone-wielding octopus.

Thanks, P4K. The watery setting and themes of mortality remind of another beautifully animated video of late, that for WHY?'s "Song Of The Assassin." Add these to Portishead's pencil-drawn "The Rip" and the computer-rendered pathos of Annuals' "Sore," and we are trending high for quality embeddable animation.
