The influential Californian weird-pop enigma Ariel Pink has been working on a ton of projects lately, like the drawn-out "Witchhunt Suite For WWIII" and Ku Klux Glam, a collaborative album with R. Stevie Moore. But he's just now announced the follow-up to the breakout 2010 album Before Today. The new album is called Mature Themes, and it's coming at the end of the summer. The first song we've heard from it is a fairly faithful cover of "Baby," a forgotten and recently-rediscovered 1979 soul-pop song from Donnie and Joe Emerson. The cover features Dâm-Funk, and it finds Pink's voice sounding stronger and clearer than we've ever heard it. Listen below.

The 12" "Baby" single is out 7/9 on 4AD, and Mature Themes is out 8/21.
