Ah, Fujiya & Miyagi. How many times can you get away with repeating deadpan phrases in hushed tones over a coolly Krautrocking beat? Whatever you thought before this post happened, the answer is "at least one more." Like "Ankle Injuries" and "Collabone" and well the rest of Transparent Things before it, the F&M blueprint is steadfastly set, and therefore still makes me want to have good times with real friends on a long highway drive, smiling about how funny and great life can be. The operative phrase in this tune is "Vanilla, strawberry, knickerbocker glory," but don't worry if you didn't get it all down that time because you're about to hear it 59 more:
In fairness to the Comma Police, that line might also be "vanilla, strawberry, knickerbocker [comma] glory," but instead of disassociating those last two, I like to think this is just the world's best motorik-infused tune about triumphant, flavored underpants. I realize this changes the complexion of that highway driving scene I sketched earlier.
Fujiya & Miyagi's next one, Lightbulbs, is out in the UK 9/1 via Full Time Hobby, and 9/16 on these shores from Deaf Dumb & Blind. Thanks for the stream, P4K.
