Kitty – “R.R.E.A.M.”
I’m typing this post from underneath my desk so that in case any of you faithful Stereogum readers/Kitty Pryde Anti-Task Force Members decide to throw water balloons at my desk window for posting “R.R.E.A.M.,” the latest flavor from Kitty’s — she’s ditched the Pryde — upcoming EP D.A.I.S.Y. Rage, I will be safe. While I haven’t read anything about the release’s title being a reference to De La Soul’s Daisy Age, “R.R.E.A.M.” is most certainly her own neurotic nod to Wu-Tang’s classic “C.R.E.A.M.” Replacing “cash” with “rash” and “dolla-dolla bills” with “Bena-Bena-dryl,” Kitty taps into her feelings of discomfort around other people and performing live, but still packs it with the wispy vitriol she does so well. And really, who can’t laugh at lyrics like, “I’m a little Nipsey Hussle, plus a little pixie dust / I piss all on your bike, I like to see your fixie rust”? Like being stabbed by the horn of a very self-aware unicorn that has a Riff Raff tattoo on its rump. Check it out below.
D.A.I.S.Y. Rage is out 1/31.
