Mark Lanegan – “Red Balloon” (Tim Hardin Cover)
Tim Hardin, most famous for writing “If I Were A Carpenter,” was one of the less-appreciated lights of the early-’60s folk music boom, but a new tribute compilation aims to give the man a little more shine. The comp, Reasons To Believe: The Songs Of Tim Hardin, has people like Okkervil River and Alela Diane covering Hardin’s songs. And Mark Lanegan, the eternally gravelly former Screaming Trees frontman, joins them, giving a heavy and earthy acoustic reading of Hardin’s song “Red Balloon.” Listen to it below.
