Jessie Ware – “Imagine It Was Us”
One of last year’s best albums was Devotion, the extraordinarily delicate and poised debut from the British soul singer Jessie Ware. Next month, the album, at long last, gets its proper American release, and it’ll come with two brand-new bonus tracks. One of them is a remix of “Wildest Moments” with A$AP Rocky, and we haven’t heard that one yet. The other is an elastic disco-house thumper called “Imagine It Was Us,” and it’s way less subtle than anything on the album proper. Ware came to the public eye singing guest-vocals on various producers’ dance tracks, and “Imagine It Was Us” feels like it belongs more to that era of Ware, though god knows this lady would sound great on anything. Listen to a radio rip below.
The American version of Devotion is out 4/16 on Interscope.
