Stalley – “Swangin” (Feat. Scarface)
Rick Ross and his Maybach Music cohorts seemingly have the mainstream rap game in a chokehold, so it is extraordinarily head scratch-inducing that “Swangin’,” Stalley’s first single from his MMG debut full-length, has already been done by different rappers. The track utilizes the exact same title, the exact same beat, and the exact same hook as a 2008 cut from defunct Huntsville duo G-Side. Of course G-Side are hardly ubiquitous, let alone to those not digging deeper into rap’s bursting indie culture and it’s likely that there’s no rabble rousing here, but I still think this is weird. But hey, good looks getting Houston legend Scarface for the album’s lead-off cut. Listen to G-Side’s “Swangin’” here and check out Stalley’s re-up below.
Stalley’s as-yet-untitled debut is out later this year via Maybach Music Group/Warner Bros.
