Stream Colin Stetson New History Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light
The wondrously gifted saxophone abtractionist Colin Stetson has become almost famous for the range of sounds he can coax out of his gigantic instrument — drones and squeaks and thumps and elephant roars, often all at once — and for his ability to combine them into mindbending instrumental pieces. Stetson’s new album New History Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light is his first solo release to include sounds that don’t come directly from that instrument: The voice of Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon, who sings on four songs and who’s previously employed Stetson in Bon Iver’s touring band. We’ve posted Stetson’s “High Above A Grey Green Sea” and “Among The Sef,” as well as the video for “In Mirrors” and “And In Truth.” And now the whole album is streaming online; listen to it at NPR.
New History Warfare Vol. 3 is out 4/30 on Constellation.
