Great Valley – “Bleacher Honey”
For the past few years, Peter Nichols has run a tiny label, Spookytown Records, out of his hometown Brattleboro VT, releasing small-run cassettes and 7-inches by Prince Rama, Quilt, Happy Jawbone Family Band, Wisdom Tooth, and more. Nichols also has a band of his own, making scrappy warped pop songs with Great Valley, who have released several excellent full-lengths and tapes over the years as well. The band’s most recent LP, Continental Lunch, is out now on Feeding Tube Records of Northampton, MA; the whole thing is worth a listen and available to stream at their Bandcamp. In line with the collaborative spirit that radiates from Brattleboro’s out-there underground community, it features appearances from members of Happy Jawbone and Blanche Blanche Blanche. Below, check out a recently-released video for one of the album’s most psychedelic moments, “Bleacher Honey,” as well as a stream of the super-poppy earworm “Dream Phone.”
