Julie Ruin is the name that the former Bikini Kill/Le Tigre leader Kathleen Hanna took when she released a 1997 album of home-recorded synthpop experiments. The Julie Ruin is Hanna’s new band, which also features the former Bikini Kill bassist Kathi Wilcox. And when the Julie Ruin release their debut album Run Fast in a few months, it’ll mark Hanna’s first full-length in the nine years since Le Tigre’s swan song This Island. After a long break due in part to Hanna’s battle with Lyme Disease, Hanna is once again firing on all cylinders, if the Run Fast track “Oh Come On” is any indication. It’s an awesomely sneering and charged-up punk rock song, the sort of thing that Hanna does better than just about anyone else, and you can hear it below.
