Fryars – “Cool Like Me”

For a Brit, 22-year-old electronic producer and singer-songwriter Ben Garrett is sounding decidedly French these days. Garrett, who records under the name Fryars, has just released "Cool Like Me," a new song from a full-length record coming out later this year. The track follows Fryars' March release of the swinging, melancholic soul ballad "On Your Own," but finds Garett making a considerable shift sonically: taking serious notes from Parisian pop-rockers Phoenix (this may be intentional, considering the title) and from the funky, disco-heavy production France has come to be known for, "Cool Like Me" is colorful, groovy, and refreshingly happy.
