RJD2 – “Her Majesty’s Socialist Request”
The veteran instrumental hip-hop producer (and Mad Men theme-music guy) RJD2 released his last solo album three years ago, and he’s only just announce plans for More Is Than Isn’t, the follow-up. The new LP includes a few collaborators, like RJ’s Icebird bandmate Aaron Livingston, his Soul Position bandmate Blueprint, and Little Brother’s Phonte Coleman. But most of the tracks are instrumentals, including the first single. “Her Majesty’s Socialist Request” is the sort of dusky MPC funk that RJ came up making, though it’s sonically cleaner, and it’s laced with ’70s stoner-rock. Listen to it below.
More Is Than Isn’t is out 10/8 on RJ’s Electrical Connections.
