Over the last few years James Ferraro’s career has been one of the most fascinating to follow. I think back from when we premiered “Earth Minutes” almost two years ago, and am blown away by how much the man has changed since. Last week I wrote about “Eternal Condition/Stuck 2″ which showed Ferraro’s deconstructions of R&B drained to their sparest, and darkest elements. Those tracks were from his upcoming album NYC, HELL 3:00 AM, and now we have the newest trailer below, featuring the album track “Upper East Side Pussy” in it’s entirety along with an additional non-album track.

Everything about this trailer and song evokes that album title and the late night terror Ferraro shows on those previous tracks. From the opening robotic chant of “money, money, money…” to the looping video of the burning face of the Terminator, to the moment when that lurching, broken drum beat comes in — it’s strange, but sticks with you (as Ferraro’s work always has.) The track sounds almost like a kindred spirit to the dark, lonely sounds Dean Blunt explored on The Narcissist II and his increasingly brilliant Stalker series. The part that gets me the most during this video however, is the haunting auto-tuned voice near the end singing with a nightmare-like abstraction, “rats, rats everywhere.” This is James Ferraro at his most uncompromising, and after watching the new trailer NYC, HELL 3:00 AM is one of my most anticipated Fall records.
