The cover of School Of Night’s upcoming EP — that church, old and faded on the top, but placed on a hyperreal patch of greener-than-green grass — is a good signifier of the music inside: synthetic, but not without a homespun sense of care. Darby Cicci (also of the Antlers) showed his solo project’s sharp ability to balance those two qualities earlier with “Lying,” and now he has a new song called “Fire Escape.” This is a slower one with more swoon to it, and but it’s definitely the loveliest thing we’ve heard from the project yet.
