According to a questionable but oft-recycled musical proverb, the best songs can all be stripped down to just a singer and an acoustic guitar. In a recent Esquire Live Session, the Dismemberment Plan’s Travis Morrison puts that thesis to the test — with a slight tweak — by performing a rendition of “Daddy Was A Real Good Dancer,” my favorite song from the Plan’s forthcoming comeback LP Uncanney Valley, accompanied by only an electronic keyboard. Judge for yourself whether it passes the test by streaming the video below.
