Fiona Apple – “I Want You To Love Me”
Despite the upsetting end to Fiona Apple’s performance in Portland last night, it sounds as if she played one hell of a show. About midway through that set, Apple played a new song possibly titled “I Want You To Love Me,” and someone got a recording of it. It’s a gorgeous track built around a dreamy piano melody and Apple’s passionate delivery of the titular theme. Like many of the songs off Idler Wheel, the music (especially the percussion) builds into a sort of controlled chaos to match her intense voice. It’s not flawless audio quality, but after waiting seven years to hear 10 new tracks from her, getting one more is an absolute treat. Listen below.
