Vermont’s Happy Jawbone Family Band have a new album out next month, a hi-fi follow up to years of out-there home-recordings. Underneath the tape hiss of Happy Jawbone’s purposefully scrappy early records, there were always great pop songs looming in the distance, and more important, smart lyrics worth dissecting. On the new LP, a self-titled album out 10/15 via Mexican Summer, that’s all finally audible. We’ve already heard “Everybody Knows About Daddy” and “Stay-At-Home Soldier,” now here’s another song from the record, “I Have To Speak With Rocky Balboa.”
