Pattern Is Movement – “Suckling” (Stereogum Premiere)
Last week we heard Philly duo Pattern Is Movement’s cover of D’Angelo’s “Untitled (How Does It Feel)”; now it’s on to new originals. A whole new album of them is coming in January via Hometapes, and we’ve got the first taste for you today. “Suckling,” which is also the A-side from a new 12-inch backed by that D’Angelo cover, matches an airy staccato keyboard vamp with restrained-yet-dynamic percussion and high-range vocals of the Justin Vernon persuasion. It’s a wonderful song that you should hear right now, and you can do just that by clicking on the SoundCloud below.
Pattern Is Movement’s still-untitled new LP is coming this January. The “Suckling” b/w “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” 12-inch will get physical release at the band’s 10/24 show at Philadelphia’s Union Transfer. Both are Hometapes releases.
