Post Louis – “Pharma”
Robbie Stern and Stephanie Davin’s band Post Louis generate plenty of lo-fi crunchiness with an emotional tug. The latter is courtesy of Davin’s acrobatic vocals which have a way of sounding wispy and fragile, before growing to the intensity of a scream, especially on “Pharma,” a track off their upcoming EP This Could Be A Bridge. From the lyrics (“there’s demons in my head”) to the cathartic delivery steeped in comforting melodies, it made me remember the double meaning of “pharma.” It’s used in terms of healing (“pharmacology” as she sings in the chorus), but in the original Greek it means “poison.” Post Louis do both on this track, and it’s great. This Could Be A Bridge is out 11/12 via Inflated Records.
