I Exist – “Sorrow On Hill 105” (Stereogum Premiere)
Australian sludge-metal-hardcore sextet I Exist have been in existence (pun intended!) for a scant four years, but over that time, they’ve released two LPs, and are set to release their third, From Darkness, next month, via the venerable Prosthetic Records (Trap Them, Mutilation Rites, Skeletonwitch). From Darkness was recorded at Melbourne’s Goat Sound Studios with Blood Duster’s Jason Fuller, and mixed by Phillip Cope and Jay Matheson at South Carolina’s Jam Room (Baroness, Kylesa, Black Tusk). Today, we’re premiering From Darkness track “Sorrow On Hill 105,” which has the bark, bulk, and swagger to match any tough-guy hardcore act on Southern Lord’s roster, but the guitars bring a deep groove and sweeping grandeur worthy of High On Fire or Mastodon. Check it out.
From Darkness is out 12/3 via Prosthetic.
