Watch Members Of Soundgarden & Mudhoney Join Pearl Jam’s Tour Closer In Seattle
On Friday night, Pearl Jam closed out their North American tour with a hometown performance at Seattle’s Key Arena — their first show in the city in four years. For their encore, PJ were joined onstage by Mark Arm and Steve Turner of Mudhoney (who opened the show) and Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil for a cover of the MC5’s “Kick Out The Jams.” It was just about as pure a distillation of Seattle as you could ask for, musically speaking. As a Yankees fan, I’m feeling kinda anti-Seattle right now (in my better moments it’s my second-favorite American city) and I’m kinda inclined to write something nasty about Jay-Z or something here, but I’ll just link out instead. Take that, Gibbard. Anyone who doesn’t know or care what I’m talking about can check out some nice-quality fan-filmed video of the PJ/Mudhoney/Soundgarden encore below.
