Tears For Fears – “My Girls” (Animal Collective Cover)
We’ve heard Tears For Fears cover Arcade Fire and Hot Chip this year, recordings the band undertook to warm up for the making of their first new original LP since 2004’s Everybody Loves A Happy Ending. You can add a third modern indie titan to the list now that the duo has unleashed a cover of Animal Collective’s “My Girls.” It’s a faithful replication of the original, complete with those signature synth ripples and airy atmospherics, but it definitely still sounds like Tears For Fears. That alien quality that haunts Animal Collective’s music is missing here, replaced by the elegant-yet-indulgent New Wave sounds of yesteryear. Check out the group’s latest gesture of “reciprocal cross-generational love” below.

That Tears For Fears LP fans have been awaiting for a decade will be out sometime in 2014.
