Saturday Looks Good To Me – “Everything Is Embarrassing” (Sky Ferreira Cover)
“Everything Is Embarrassing” is the song that tipped the critical establishment to Sky Ferreira’s outwardly sleek, inwardly tumultuous retro pop-rock, and ever since it emerged in 2012 it’s been an objection of fascination among fellow musicians. The song has been covered by Kitty and remixed by Twin Shadow and Unknown Mortal Orchestra among many other reinterpretations. Now comes another version of the song from Michigan indie-pop combo Saturday Looks Good To Me, recorded as part of an Ann Arbor multimedia installation called “Fits” that also features silkscreened prints by Saturday Looks Good To Me member Fred Thomas. Hear the group’s ethereal take below.
As Pitchfork reports, “Fits” also features music from No Age’s Dean Spunt, Cursive’s Tim Kasher, Tyvek, and more. The music is being released as a series of nine limited edition cassettes via the Life Like Tapes label. Hear the full soundtrack here, and if you’re in Ann Arbor throughout the next month or so, check out the installation at Today Clothing.
