The National Announce 2014 North American Tour
The National, America’s foremost purveyors of dour-yet-triumphant guitar-driven elegance, just announced a new round of tour dates, but that doesn’t even begin to account for all the busyness during this second year of the Trouble Will Find Me promotional cycle. For starters, CBS This Morning will air a profile of the band this Saturday plus performances of “Don’t Swallow The Cap” and “I Need My Girl” as part of the show’s Saturday Sessions series. The latter song is also the subject of an acoustic covers contest the National is running through its website. Fans are encouraged to upload videos of themselves performing the song, with winners being selected and posted here throughout the first two weeks of February. A grand prize winner selected on Valentine’s Day will receive a $500 AMEX gift card. Here’s what aspiring Matt Berningers have to live up to:
Trouble Will Find Me is out now via 4AD, and the band’s documentary Mistaken For Strangers gets release in select theaters, on demand, and through iTunes 3/28. The band will perform at the film’s premiere 3/25 at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium (get tickets here) among other early 2014 tour dates that include an Austin City Limits taping with Warpaint and a trip to Hawaii:
