Coliseum – “Late Night Trains” Live (Stereogum Premiere)
Coliseum’s great 2013 LP, Sister Faith, was the best and most refined work of the Louisville band’s decade-long career, a simmering, rattling LP of tense, textured melodic post-hardcore in the Jawbox tradition (indeed it was produced by that band’s J. Robbins, the first to be recorded at his Baltimore studio). The shows that followed Sister Faith found Coliseum in fighting form, tighter than a fourth-floor one-bedroom in the Walled City of Kowloon. Next week, they’re releasing a document of those shows — Faith And Curses – Live — eight songs recorded live at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin (one of them, “Fuzzbang,” guest-starring Pelican guitarist Trevor Shelley de Brauw). We’ve got one of the songs from the live album for you today, the excellent Sister Faith track “Late Night Trains.” It kicks ass. Check it out.
Faith And Curses – Live is out 2/4 via Coliseum’s Bandcamp, you can pre-order it now.
