Miguel, John Grant, Fall Out Boy To Cover Elton John’s Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Elton John’s 1973 smash hit album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is getting a blowout 40th anniversary reissue this spring, and part of the usual bonus feature motherlode (a disc of live recordings, a documentary film, a 100-page animated hardback book) is a disc of covers by some artists you might not expect. Miguel (featuring Wale…), John Grant, and Fall Out Boy are on there alongside the Ed Sheerans and Hunter Hayes of the world. Miguel and Wale will be doing “Bennie And The Jets,” while Grant is tackling “Sweet Painted Lady” and “Fall Out Boy” handles “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting.”
In addition, Sir Elton announced a two-night theatrical showing of a new concert movie called The Million Dollar Piano. Filmed during his Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, it will be shown in 1,200 theaters nationwide (500 in the U.S.) on 3/18 and 3/26, bracketing the release of the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road reissue. Watch a trailer for the reissue below.
