Shearwater – “Black Is The Color”
Shearwater have been going in on the covers lately. Last year, Jonathan Meiburg’s Texan indie impressionists earned an Album Of The Week designation for their all-covers collection Fellow Travelers, and they also took on Frank Ocean’s “Novacane” on a split-single with Low. And now the band has shared another cover: A version of the traditional song “Black Is The Color,” most famously sung by Nina Simone. The Shearwater version, recorded for the WNYC radio show Radiolab, swirls and twinkles just the way you’d expect. Download it below.
