Young Widows – “Kerosene Girl”
Last weekend, the incredible Louisville post-hardcore/noise band Young Widows played two nights at Brooklyn’s St. Vitus, and on the first of those nights, they played their forthcoming album, Easy Pain, in its entirety, publicly debuting it for those in attendance. I did not attend, which I knew in the moment was a mistake, and now, as I listen to the album’s first single, “Kerosene Girl,” I can confidently say: I fucked up. “Kerosene Girl” is a punishing, throbbing, skronking, slinking, suffocating ass-kicker of a song. It is so goddamn heavy. I love it. If the whole album is this good, it’s gonna be an absolute monster. Listen.
Easy Pain is out 5/13 via Temporary Residence. Here’s its tracklist:
01 “Godman”
02 “Cool Night”
03 “Kerosene Girl”
04 “Doomed Moon”
05 “Gift Of Failure”
06 “Bird Feeder”
07 “King Sol”
08 “The Last Young Widow”
