The Range – “Washingtons”
James Hinton, better known as the Range, caught a lot of ears last year with unique electronica that is highly syncopated and hyper-melodic, with just the right dabbling of strange samples of people talking. It led to his debut LP Nonfiction getting many comparisons to Aphex Twin’s Richard D. James Album. Later this month the Range will release the EP Panasonic and from it he’s shared “Washingtons,” a track which absolutely shimmers. The amount of sweet melodies, pleasure zone-hitting timbres, and cycling rhythms work so well together that by the half-way point you’re better off just sitting back and letting the thing wash over you. Panasonic is out 3/25 via Donkey Pitch.
