Hear A Track From American Football’s Deluxe Reissue
Maybe you’ve heard there’s an #emorevival going on? And not just new bands are getting in on the fun. Emo OGs such as Sunny Day Real Estate, Owls, and Braid are releasing new material and returning to the stage. And on 5/20, Polyvinyl will release a deluxe reissue the 1999 self-titled album by American Football, a mathy, melancholic combo comprising emo luminary Mike Kinsella (Cap’n Jazz, Owen, Owls, Their / They’re / There) plus Steve Lamos and Steve Holmes. Along with the original nine-track album comes a second disc of live tracks and demos from 1997-1999. Hear one of those bonus cuts, a boombox-recorded 1998 practice demo called “Untitled #1 (The One With the Trumpet),” below.
The American Football reissue is out 5/20 via Polyvinyl in a 2,000-copy limited edition run of green and yellow double vinyl and an unlimited run of red double vinyl as well as 2xCD, tape, and MP3 formats. Order it here. Here’s the tracklist:
